THE HISTORY OF RAGGEDY ANN

She began as a family rag doll~ an old toy,

faded & worn, tossed into an attic.

And there, the legend goes,

a little girl named Marcella

found her one wet and rainy day.

Her father Johnny Gruelle, saw infinite possibilities

in that old plaything, so he repaired her and

gave her a name.

With her shoe-button eyes and winsome smile,

Raggedy Ann soon became the beloved playmate

of Gruelle's young daughter, Marcella.

When Marcella Gruelle fell ill

and died in her early teens,

Johnny was devastated.

But knowing how much his daughter

had adored Raggedy Ann,

he began writing the stories

that were eventually published.

Gruelle soon gave Raggedy Ann

a brother named Raggedy Andy,

and through the years the two floppy rag dolls

acquired many other wonderful storybook friends ~

all inhabitants of a very special world,

where dolls come alive

& enjoy magical adventures when no mortals

are present.

How to create Rusty Tin

This will nicely rust all those safety pins, jingle bells, or anything else you want to 'age' for your primitive creations. Do this outside in a safe place (away from children or pets, of course). In an old jar, combine: 1/2 cup of cider vinegar 1/2 cup of Clorox 1 teasp. of salt Add your pins or bells and cover loosely. Place in a safe spot and let it sit for about 2 days. Some get desired results in about 2 hours, but I like them super rusty, so I've always left them for about 2 days. When they are ready, take an old plate (one that you only use for this project from now on) and line it with a couple layers of paper towel. Remove pins or bells with an old fork - again, one you will never use at the dinner table again, and place them on the paper-lined plate. Put the plate in a safe & sunny place. The rusting will occur as they dry. You can swirl the plate periodically to reposition bells so they dry underneath also. It will take a few hours. So there you have it... beautiful rusty stuff! IMPORTANT: DO NOT throw this solution down the sink when you are done. I dispose of mine out in the woods away from pets or children. Also, avoid breathing the fumes...that's why I do it outside.

How to Make MELT AND POUR Soap

What you will need

1 pound melt and pour soap base

(costs about $7.00 for two pounds at Micheals) add ingredients of your choice, such as honey, goats milk, brown sugar,oatmeal... Essential oils(lavender &vanilla are great!)

Scented Soap~skin safe oils several drops Vitamin E oil one drop Fresh or dried herb of your choice

Plastic bowl (microwave safe)

Food coloring or candle coloring if you have it.

Alcohol & sprayer

How to Make..

Cut soap in small chunks and put into microwave safe bowl.

Heat until melted.. (watch it carefully)

Once melted add your scent and coloring if you choose

Carefully mix into soap.Stiring will cause bubbles,so mix gently. (Use caution this is very hot)

I then add my dried or fresh herbs..

Add stableizer to blend herbs..or they will remain just on top or bottom of soap Lavender is my favorite choice!

Stir gently again.

Pour your soap into any molds you have or use a loaf pan .

(I spray lightly with pure oil to help with getting them out of mold or pan easily.)

**If bubbles form mist lightly with alcohol**

Let set for a hour or two.

Gently Remove soap from mold

If using loaf pan, cut into whatever size pieces you want your soap.

(I do this with gloves to keep the soap pure.) Wrap and its ready to use,or give to a special person in your life.

Enjoy!
